Forum Of Former Council Chairmen Debuts In Delta
The Forum of former Council Chairmen in Delta State have been inaugurated to provide leadership and direction for members as grassroot politicians.
Convener of the group and Political Adviser to the Governor, Chief Isaac Anwuzia said inauguration of the group became necessary following age-long neglect of former council chairmen across the state.
Welcoming members to the group, Anwuzia, a former Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council, said that the forum was facilitated to provide a spring board for members to actualize their future political ambitions.
He said the formation of the group was long overdue, adding that the former Chairmen had been neglected because they lacked a forum and urged members to always speak their mind going forward.
“By the special grace of God, the forum of former local government chairmen is born today (yesterday) in Delta.
“Our dear Leader and Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has given his blessings to the formation of the group which would help project the interest of the party at the grassroot.
“The group is only open to former Council Chairmen who are still members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“The group will ensure that the omission of former council chairmen from the party’s delegates list is corrected up to the state level,” Anwuzia stated.
Also speaking, Dr. Tony Nwaka said the formation of the group would help to consolidate the party using the instrumentality of former council chairmen who are grassroot politicians.
Nwaka, a three-time Commissioner in the state, added that the former Council chairmen will use their experiences and expertise to contribute their quota to the development of the state through the formation of the group.
